It’s not easy to build confidence when surrounded by a negative, discouraging society so I listed 12 biblical ways on how to be a confident Christian woman that you can work on starting today.
I also used to be a woman who talked negatively about myself- my appearance, worth, and skills. Worse is that my confidence was rooted in the way I work. If I didn’t work according to my extra-high standards, I would be drowning myself in self-sabotage and poor self-talk. Through Jesus Christ, I am now a confident woman because my confidence is anchored in Him.
It’s also my prayer that every woman of God discovers their true identity in Christ and has the confidence to be their best self wherever God placed them in. If you’re reading this, know that I’ll be praying for you.

Here are 12 Biblical Ways To Be More Confident As A Woman of God
Achor your identity in God
and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 17:5
So often, especially as women, it’s easy to anchor our identities in anything aside from God. The culprit could be our relationships, work, appearance, opinions of others, and more. But have you ever asked God how He sees you?
Have you ever asked God what’s your true identity?
If you haven’t yet, ask God your true identity in Him. What is your worth to Him as His beloved child?
And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 1 Corinthians 1:30
When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become one with Him. His righteousness became ours as well, along with His wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.
God is pleased with His children. God loves you so much because You are His.
This first point alone gives us true confidence, that Christ died for us. Therefore, we can approach the Father with confidence. The next 11 ways are practical ways we can cultivate this godly confidence we have in Jesus.
“God is within her, she will not fall.” Psalms 46:5
Get closer to Jesus
The more we become closer to Jesus, the more we know that we are loved and appreciated. Not only this, but He also sanctifies and completes us. It’s impossible to get closer to Jesus without changing for the better. It allows us to love Him, ourselves, and others more.
You can get closer to Jesus through prayer, worship, bible reading, meditation, and attending Christian gatherings.
I think this has to be said as well. When we are close to Jesus, we allow ourselves to be healed from pain caused by trauma and others. And I believe we can all agree that being whole and complete in Christ, without pain, allows us to stand tall and be more confident, right?
There was a quote from a reel that I loved so much, “I always walk into a room like God sent me there”.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Jesus with your anxieties, burdens, and insecurities that weigh you down and He will give you rest.
To be confident christian woman, you have to be closer to Jesus.
A confident woman works and uses her skills, talents, and resources
When you read Proverbs 31 woman, you’ll notice that she is not idle. She works a lot.
She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. Proverbs 31:17
We become more confident when we create. While yes, the most incredible creation we can have is childbirth, we can still create new and beautiful things with our hands.
All of us were given a gift by God and it’s our duty to use them to give Him glory.
Don’t you feel more confident when you use your talents and gifts for Him?
Don’t your self-esteem boost every time you create or do something beautiful for Him? It looks different for most of us. Some could be gifted in art, singing, or dancing. Some are gifted in organizing, leading, teaching, and facilitating. Some are gifted in counseling, taking care of others, giving, and listening.
When we use our hands to work for God and His Church (and the people He loves), we become more confident as women of God.
What are your gifts? Start to use them to bless others. A confident Christian woman is always eager to use her life for God.
The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped. Proverbs 11:25
Give, volunteer, or help charity works
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. Proverbs 31:20
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18
All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Luke 21:4
Our confidence in God are often tested in our ability to give to others. When God looks at us, will He see a godly woman who gives with all that we have to Him?
I can also say this personally that giving to charity or volunteering builds my confidence in God. When you give, you will realize how you have so much to give to others, not only financially, but also other resources like time, energy, and love.
Highly recommend that if you want to build your confidence in God, give to others.
Similar to the verse in point 3, when we give, we are refreshed. It is always blessed to give.

Learn and study
I will go back to the Proverbs 31 woman again. It blows my mind how she’s well-versed in different skills and industries. She’s well versed in business, investing, trading, clothing, farming, household chores & organization, and more!
When we cultivate our confidence as a woman of God, learning and studying His word, along with expanding our knowledge about different matters are very important!
Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Personal story: I stopped studying for 2 years because of medical reasons. During those two years, God blessed me with a good career and income. I had second thoughts of returning to school. Thankfully, my mom persuaded me to study again and finish my degree. And I remember very well the time when I graduated, my friend (Hi Aldrian!) told me, “See? You have more confidence now because you earned a degree.”
Studying and learning a new skill/knowledge boosts our self-esteem. Thank Jesus!

Prepare for the future
God holds our future. That’s a solid fact. He is sovereign over everything all the time. However, as Christians, we are commanded to prepare.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
Proverbs 31:21-25
“But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. Matthew 25:10
Confident women of God, we should prepare for our future. I don’t know what that looks like for you. That could be building your emergency funds, building business, discipling people, or as simply as stocking biblical truths to your mind for harder days.
This is a hard step for me especially that I have a mantra of living in the moment but it is very clear in the Bible that we all should prepare. For the future and for His coming.
Welcome and serve people
All the Bible Heroes and women of God in the Bible served people in one way or another. We see their confidence in God through their hospitality (to angels, God, and the poor).
Us, Christian women, should open our doors to people in need of shelter and comfort. (Take this advise with carefulness and wisdom ok ‘cause this world is cruel)
We build confidence in God through hospitality and serving others.
Speak well of others and yourself
Can you imagine a woman of God talking ill of herself and others? No. So should we. Why? Because we are women of God.
In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. 1 Timothy 3:11
I remember the times when I did a lot of poor self talk. Little did I realize that it was Satan who was feeding me with those thoughts! And I used to agree with those wrong judgement of myself in my mind.
Only when I looked in the mirror and practiced good self-talk that I woke up to reality. One of my friends shared this with me and it has worked tremendously great for everytime I forget who I am in Christ.
Look into the mirror and say 10 things that God says about you and your identity.
I am beloved of God. I am worthy. I am a child of God. I am His. I am saved by His grace. I am strong in Him. I am chosen.
(The first time I did this when I was around 16, I remember I used to say “I am His warrior princess. I am an artist. I am God’s daughter. I am strong. And more.)
Our thoughts and feelings are often used by Satan to deceive us so it’s important that we know His word which is the truth.
The same goes with others. You’re a confident christian woman, negative talk about others should no longer be in our conversations. God wants to reach out to people and He is at work with everyone. Let’s practice patience and kindness to all.
Live for and through Jesus
Have you ever wondered why Paul was so confident? He was so confident in the way he lived to the point that he advised others to live like him. Is it because of all his achievements? Or his obedience to God?
His secret to confidence is in Philippians 1:21
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
His life is lived for Christ and he lived through Jesus. When everything that we do is genuinely sacrificed to God, He gives us more confidence through His presence and love.
When we live through Jesus, meaning carrying our cross daily, our confidence in God become a lot stronger because we see His grace day to day.
Live for Him and live through Him.
Be surrounded by confident and godly women
Mary Magdalene, Martha and Mary the sisters of Lazarus, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Salome were often mentioned in the bible together. It’s safe to say that they are confident christian women.
My confidence in God personally increased when surrounded by women who also love the Lord as much as I love him.
Women’s words are very powerful. From the Old Testament to today, we see that the words of women have long and rippling effects – positive and negative. So, we should be wise in choosing our friends.
Our friends carry our burdens with us, lift us up to Jesus, and invite us closer to God.
If your current group of friends doesn’t refresh or uplift you, I encourage you to pray for loving and godly friends.

Don’t compare yourself to other women
Oh how this could hurt your confidence a lot! We are all made differently and were given talents according to our abilities.
There will always be women that are more, and women that are less. Comparing to either of them would be helpful and holy.
Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. Galatians 6:4-5 MSG
Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load. Galatians 6:4-5 NIV
Comparison is a thief of joy. One day you would be so happy with your identity in God and the next day you’ll be so down because you saw others doing better. That’s a burden and God don’t like that either.
Focus on your own journey to Christ and how you can serve Him. We all shine in different ways but all glory is His.
Confident women don’t do it all <3
Don’t do it all because even the Proverbs 31 didn’t. Jesus didn’t when He was here on earth. All successful people didn’t.
And we can’t. We simply can’t do it all. Trying to do it all will only hurt your confidence because it will make you realize that you can’t.
She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. Proverbs 31:15
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
There is no shame in asking for help. You can delegate tasks to others when necessary. This is a good way to practice healthy boundaries. We need to put limitations on what we can do and give because if you push yourself too hard, you will burn out or drain yourself.

5 Bonus Tips To Build More Confidence as A Woman of God
